It’s estimated that about 36% of Americans experience dental anxiety. Though common, it often results in missed dental appointments and an increased risk of oral health problems. At Ontario Chino Dental Center, cosmetic, family, and general dentist Krupakar “Reddy” Yeturu, DDS, uses nitrous oxide and DentalVibe® to ensure comfort and reduce anxiety. T

Ontario Chino Dental Center is pleased to feature DentalVibe® at our office. DentalVibe is a revolutionary injection comfort system designed to enhance your experience with our dentist! This state-of-the-art technology uses VibraPulse technology to reduce or eliminate entirely the discomfort of dental injections.

Our dentist and team understand that many patients avoid seeking dental treatment due to anxiety or fear of pain. Thanks to DentalVibe®, we can remove this obstacle, and change your perspective on dental care. DentalVibe relies on vibration technology, so you don’t need to worry about taking pills, inhaling gasses, or feeling drowsy following your treatment.

DentalVibe is an incredibly simple treatment, providing quick and efficient pain-blocking with absolutely no side effects. When you receive a dental injection, our dentist will use DentalVibe to gently and effectively block the pain of your injection. Dr. Krupakar Reddy Yeturu will place the tip of the DentalVibe tool at the site of your injection, and activate it. After a few seconds of gentle vibrations, he will administer your injection with little or no pain.

Dental Anxiety Q & A

What is dental anxiety?

Dental anxiety is a common condition characterized by fear of the dentist. Often, it’s a result of negative past experiences but can also occur due to a sensitive gag reflex, the sounds of dental tools, or concerns about your oral health.

Many people who experience dental anxiety put off preventive checkups. That is understandable, but it also increases the risk of potentially serious oral health problems, including cavities, gum disease, and infections.

What can I do to minimize dental anxiety?

There are several things you can do to minimize dental anxiety. Ontario Chino Dental Center recommends:

  • Scheduling an appointment at a less-busy time of day, like the morning
  • Bringing noise-canceling headphones to drown out the dental equipment
  • Asking a friend or family member to come to your appointment
  • Practicing deep breathing to calm your nerves

Depending on your oral health history and needs, you might also benefit from an in-office treatment like nitrous oxide or DentalVibe®.

What in-office treatments help ease dental anxiety?

Ontario Chino Dental Center offers several in-office treatments to help ease dental anxiety, including:

Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)

Nitrous oxide is a colorless, odorless gas that you breathe through a mask placed over your nose. Once the nitrous oxide enters your body, it causes feelings of euphoria and relaxation. Your provider can adjust the amount of gas throughout the appointment, ensuring you remain comfortable and anxiety-free.

DentalVibe®

DentalVibe is an innovative tool that minimizes the pain associated with dental injections. Before administering an injection, your Ontario Chino Dental Center provider places the DentalVibe tool against your gums. The tool generates a gentle vibration that overloads the nerves responsible for sending pain signals to your brain.

What type of dental anxiety treatment will benefit me?

The type of dental anxiety treatment that will most benefit you depends on your age, oral health history, and the severity of your anxiety. Following an in-office consultation and a comprehensive oral exam, your provider can make recommendations.

If you’re primarily afraid of needles, you might benefit from DentalVibe. If your anxiety occurs due to the fear of dentistry or oral health care, you might benefit from nitrous oxide.
